Congratulations on setting up your Icarus server with PingPlayers! Now that you have your IP:Port and server name in hand, it’s time to get connected so you can dive into the wilderness and build your dream outpost! Let’s walk through the connection process step by step.
Step 1: Launch Icarus
First, make sure Icarus is installed on your computer. If you haven’t done this yet, you can purchase and download it from platforms like Steam.
1. Open Steam: Launch your Steam client.
2. Find Icarus: In your library, locate the Icarus game and click on it.
3. Play the Game: Hit the "Play" button to start Icarus.
Step 2: Navigating to the Server Menu
Once the game loads, you need to head to the multiplayer section:
1. Main Menu: You’ll be greeted by the main menu of Icarus. Select your character or create a new one.
2. Multiplayer menu’: On the Home tab, click on the "Join" option to open the multiplayer menu.
Step 3: Joining Your Server
Now that you are in the multiplayer menu, you can use your server name or your IP:Port to connect:
1. Select "Dedicated Servers": Look for an option that says "Dedicated servers (Beta) on the top right corner." Selecting this will show you all the available servers in a list.
2. Internet: In the Internet tab, you'll see all available servers in a list. You can type the name you gave to your server when you ordered it and it should show up on the list. Remember that the name you selected is inside the "Basic Settings". You can access it from your account->My Servers->Game->Basic Settings.
3. Direct Connection: You may see an option to "Connect to IP" or “Direct Connect.” on to far right tab of the server table. It can be used to connect to the server by using its IP and port.
4. Enter Your Server Information:
- In the space provided, enter your server’s IP address followed by a colon `:` and your port number. For example, if your IP is `123.45.67.89` and your port is `7777`, you’d enter:
```
123.45.67.89:7777
```
5. Click ‘Join’: After entering your details, click the "Join" button to connect to your server.
Step 4: Troubleshooting Connections
If you encounter any issues when trying to connect, here are a few tips:
- Check Your IP and Port: Make sure you entered the correct IP address and port number. Even a small typo can prevent you from connecting.
- Lobby Selection mode: If your server is brand new, it is possible that you see this as soon as you try to join it. Click Yes to join to it and it should let you connect to it.
- Password is not accepted: Make sure you use the password created to access the server and not the admin password which is used to access admin account to administrate the server.
- Server Status: Try to verify that the Icarus server is up and running through your PingPlayers control panel. If it's down for maintenance or experiencing issues, you won’t be able to connect.
- Restart Icarus: If all else fails, try restarting the game and attempting to connect again.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Adventure!
Once connected, you should find yourself in your Icarus server with other players or simply enjoy your own experience. Gather resources, tackle missions, and build your base in the stunning world of Icarus!
Conclusion
Connecting to your Icarus server may seem daunting, but with these simple steps, you can easily jump into your freshly set-up game hosting experience. If you have any further questions or run into issues, don’t hesitate to contact PingPlayers support for assistance. Enjoy your gaming!
