If you're looking to set yourself as an Admin on your V Rising server, it's a straightforward process that will enhance your gameplay experience. Follow the steps below to enable Admin authentication and get started in no time!
Adding your SteamID
For root-level commands, you'll need full admin access to the game server. To set yourself as admin in the adminlist.txt
file. You can simply go to File Manager→save-data→Settings→adminlist.txt and double click the file:
In this document, add your SteamID (you can get the 17-character number from here) in a line and click Save. Then, Restart and you'll be added to the admin list in the game server.
Steps to Enable Console Access
- Launch V Rising, join the game and head to the Options menu.
- Select the General tab.
Enable the console option to allow in-game commands.
Opening the Console
To open the console in-game, press the `
key (usually located below the ESC
key on your keyboard). This will allow you to input various commands.
Using Commands
Now that you have access to the console, you can use the command list
to view the current server settings, players, and more. If you're new to console commands, a helpful tip is to use the TAB
key to autocomplete commands. This feature can save you from syntax errors and provide you with suggestions!
Admin-level Commands
To use the root-level commands in the game, you'll need to be authenticated as admin. If you've already added yourself to the adminlist.txt, you can use the command adminauth and you'll be granted access to these commands.
Troubleshooting Common Problems
- Cannot Open Console: Make sure your keyboard language is set to ENG. If it’s set to another language, you might find that the
`
symbol isn’t accessible or requires a combination of keystrokes. Adjusting your keyboard settings can resolve this. An alternative is to find what key or combination inputs the`
and use that, for example, Spanish keyboard layouts do it by holdingALT+CTRL+]
twice. - Command Not Recognized: Double-check the spelling of your command. Using the
TAB
key can help you with correct command names. - No Admin Privileges: If you’ve set up everything correctly but still lack admin permissions, ensure that your player ID is correctly configured in the server settings.
By following these simple steps, you'll be able to take full control of your V Rising server as an Admin. Set your rules, manage players, and create an enjoyable environment for everyone to enjoy!
