How to Load Custom Workshop Maps to Your ARK: Survival Evolved Server
If you're looking to spice up your ARK: Survival Evolved gameplay, loading custom workshop maps can be a great way to do so. Workshop maps are different from regular mods, and they need to be loaded in a specific way. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to add a custom workshop map to your server.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Find the workshop map mod of choice. For example, we used CavemansDungeon.

- Take note of the mod ID. In this example, the mod ID is
3373741406
.

- Add the ID to the Map Mod ID in the basic settings. Unlike other mods that are inserted in the Active Mods variable, workshop maps are added specifically in the Map Mod ID section.

- Change the map name. Ensure you input the exact map name as described in the mod’s description. For our example, it should be
CavemansDungeon
.

- Save settings and restart the server. This will apply your changes and load the new map.

Note: If you want to switch back to one of the pre-installed maps, you need to remove the Map Mod ID. Otherwise, you won't be able to join the server due to an outdated mod error.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues, here are a few common problems and their solutions:
- Make sure the mod ID is correctly set in the Map Mod ID.
- Double-check the spelling of the map’s name in the basic settings to avoid typos.
- Ensure that any mod dependencies for the custom map are included in the active mods section.
