Configuring World Settings in Core Keeper

How to Configure the World Type and Settings in Core Keeper

Welcome to your complete guide on how to configure world settings in Core Keeper! As a new host for your game, it's essential to understand the different types of worlds and settings you can manage. In this article, we will go over:

  1. World Mode
  2. World Seed and Custom Seeds
  3. Game IDs
  4. Seasons and Their Effects
  5. World IDs
  6. Troubleshooting

1. World Mode

Core Keeper offers different world modes that allow players to experience varying challenges:

To change the world mode, locate the settings in your server dashboard and select your desired mode from the drop-down menu.

2. World Seed and Custom Seeds

World seeds are unique codes that determine how your game world is generated. You can enter a string of random characters to create a diverse gaming experience. Seeds can be found online after they are shared by players who got them.

Changing a seed on a World that already has been joined to is not possible; the only way to use a different seed is to regenerate the world. That can be done by modifying the World ID.

Steps to set a custom seed:

  1. Find the world settings section on your server dashboard.

  2. Enter your desired world seed in the designated field.
  3. Choose a different World ID (0-29).

  4. Click Update Server to apply the changes and restart the server.

3. Game IDs

Game IDs are unique identifiers for each game session. They help in tracking and accessing saved worlds. If there's no Game ID set on the field, it will be randomized each time the server restarts. You can find the current Game ID for the current game World ID in two ways:

  1. Check the log: Inside the game server dashboard, click Logs→GameID.txt→Copy the game ID and paste it in-game on the Join Game menu.

  2. Check the file: Inside the server files (through FTP or File Manager inside the website), you'll find a GameID.txt file in the root directory of the server. The GameID is inside:

4. Seasons and Their Effects

Seasons in Core Keeper change the environment and gameplay mechanics:

You can set the season in the world settings, update settings and restart the game to take effect. The world is not regenerated by season changes.

5. World IDs

World IDs are unique codes assigned to each specific world you create. This helps in managing and identifying different game worlds. Keep a list of your created world IDs for easier access. They act as Save slots, basically. We strongly recommend that you write what each World ID is in a list somewhere. Like 1=Main seed, 2= Farm ores, 3= Crop farming, etc.

There can be up to 30 World IDs (0-29), if more than 29 is inserted on World ID field, no change will take effect from the previous seed set.

For example, if the World ID was 10 and the World ID is changed to 50, update settings and restart the server, the game will load World ID 10 regardless of the "50" in the Basic Settings.

Each world save will reflect its World ID number in its name. For example, in this server, there's a World on ID 0 and ID 29:
