How to Back Up a Core Keeper Server

Backing up your Core Keeper server is essential to protect your game progress and world from unexpected issues. This guide will walk you through the steps to safely back up your server data. Remember, it's important to shut down your server before making any changes to prevent data corruption.

Step-by-Step Back-Up Process

1. Shut Down Your Server

Before anything else, ensure that you properly shut down your Core Keeper server. This helps prevent any data corruption that could occur if files are modified while the server is running. You can do this through your game hosting control panel.

2. Connect to FTP

To access the game files, you need to connect to your server using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). If you're unfamiliar with using FTP, please refer to our detailed FTP guide. It will walk you through the process of connecting, including using FTP software and your server credentials.

3. Locate the Save/Worlds Folder

Once you are connected via FTP, navigate to the directory where your Core Keeper server files are stored. Look for the folder labeled save or worlds. This is where all your game data is kept.

4. Download the World Files

Inside the worlds folder, you will find files related to your game worlds. These files are essential for restoring your game later. Select all the world files and download them to your local machine. This action creates a backup of your game worlds.

5. Restart the Server

Once the download is complete, you can restart your Core Keeper server. Your server is now safe, and you can continue playing!

Restoring Data From a Backup

If you ever need to restore your game data from a backup, you can do so by uploading the world files back onto the server through FTP:

  1. Connect to your server via FTP.
  2. Navigate to the save or worlds folder.
  3. Upload your previously downloaded world files into this folder, replacing any existing files if prompted. We recommend deleting them and uploading the backup files.
  1. Restart your server to access your restored game data.
