🌌 Nightingale FAQ – PingPlayers Server Hosting

❓ What version is my Nightingale server running?

Your Nightingale server always runs the latest stable version available on Steam for PC.

• Version downgrades and legacy branches are not supported.
• If Auto Update is enabled, the server will automatically update once a patch is released.
• If Update on Boot is enabled, the server will update automatically upon restart.

⚙️ How do I configure my Nightingale server?

Configuration can be done in two ways:

1. Basic Settings (recommended for most users):
   These cover core options like password protection, enabled cheats, starting difficulty, etc.
2. Config Manager (Advanced Users):
   For more granular control, you can create and manage templates in the Config Manager. This controls the main configuration file:
   • ServerSettings.ini

⚠️ Do not edit config files directly via FTP or File Manager, as changes will be overwritten on restart. Use Config Manager to create and apply templates instead.

Note: Not all Basic Settings are available in ServerSettings.ini; some are independently managed by the control panel system.

💾 Where are the server saves stored?

Character progression is stored locally and tied to an account similarly to Terraria or Valheim. There are two folders inside the of the “Deploy” folder which is the most important save folder. Nightingale world data is saved in:

/Server/NWX/Saved/Offline/DedicatedServer/Deploy

This includes:

• Realm states
• Persistent world data

You can view and back up saves from the Backups tab in the panel or access them directly via FTP/File Manager.

🔌 How do I join the Nightingale server?

There is only one method:

1. Direct Connect

• Launch Nightingale.
• Use the "Join Game" option, select IP/LAN and enter your server’s IP, Port and password.
  You can find these in your PingPlayers control panel.

🧑‍✈️ How do I make someone an admin?

Currently, admin access tools in Nightingale are limited to an admin panel in-game.

• Server access control can be handled via the admin password setting in Basic Settings.
• If enabled cheats are enabled on the server and on the game client from the user, accessing the escape menu and inserting the admin password in admin mode button will grant access to DEBUG menu to control settings such as god mode, item spawning and more.

🧠 Is RCON supported?

No. Nightingale does not currently support RCON or remote console access.
Any administrative or developer console functions must be performed in-game, if available, or will be added as the game progresses in early access.

💻 What platforms can join Nightingale servers?

Nightingale is currently only available for PC (Steam and Epic).

• There is no console or cross-platform support at this time.
• The server must be accessed using the same version number of the game client as the server.

🧩 Are there mods or workshop support?

As of now, modding is not officially supported in Nightingale.
Once support is introduced (e.g., via Steam Workshop or direct mod loading), this FAQ will be updated to include instructions for adding mods through File Manager or the server panel.

🪵 How can I troubleshoot startup or crash issues?

Check logs via:

• The Logs tab in the panel under the NWX.log label as that's the latest one for the server.

• FTP path:
