How to Change the Scenario and World in Your Space Engineers Server
Welcome to your Space Engineers server! Changing the scenario and world is an essential part of personalizing your gameplay experience. In this article, we’ll guide you through how scenarios and worlds function, and provide a step-by-step guide on how to change the world and scenario settings for your server.
Understanding Scenarios and Worlds
In Space Engineers, a world acts as a save slot, where all of your builds, assets, mods and progress are stored. When you change a world, you are essentially switching to a different save file. Each world can be tied to a scenario, which is a specific gameplay setup that defines rules and challenges. Scenarios require a new world to function properly, as they often preload specific conditions and objectives.
Step-by-Step Guide to Changing Worlds and Scenarios
Changing the World
- Go to your Space Engineer “Manage Server”.
- Go to Basic Settings.
- Find the World name field. Rename it to whatever you wish (this name will appear on the server list and will also be the name of your save folder).

Changing the Scenario
- In the same Basic Settings menu, look for the Scenario variable. Note that there are two scenario fields, but you want the one that lists available scenarios.
- Select your desired scenario from the list. Important: On consoles, only the following scenarios are officially supported: First Jump, Learning to Survive, and Never Surrender. The official Lost Colony scenario does not work on consoles. However, you can join our server with the scenario set and with crossplatform and network type set to EOS enabled.

- Next, find the variable labeled Ignore Last Session and set it to True/Enabled.

- Finally, restart your server.

Switching Back to a Previous World
If you want to revert back to your previous world, simply change the world name back to its original title (default name is World1). If you wish to reset everything in that previous world, just rename it slightly differently to create a new save.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Not Setting a New World: Ensure you have correctly set a new world name as outlined above.
- Choosing a Console-Compatible Scenario: If you're on consoles, make sure to select scenarios that are supported (smaller scenarios, usually), enable console compatibility and crossplatform and set network type as EOS. PingQuery won't work, but the server will be joinable from consoles and
