How to Upload your Local Save to your Server in Enshrouded

Have you built an epic base in your single-player world and now want to invite friends to your server to see it? In Enshrouded, your character is saved on your PC, but your world is saved as a separate file. This guide will show you how to take your local single-player world and upload it to your server to continue your adventure.

The process involves a "save swap": we will find your local world file, find the world file name your server expects to load, and then rename your local file to match that name.

Important: Stop Your Server First!

Before you begin, you must stop your server. Go to Actions > Shutdown in your control panel. Uploading or changing save files while the server is running will corrupt your world.

Part 1: Find Your Local World Save (On Your PC)

First, you need to locate your single-player world files on your computer.

  1. Open File Explorer on your PC.
  2. Navigate to your Steam user data folder. The default path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\

  1. Inside userdata, you will see a folder (or folders) named with numbers. This is your SteamID3 or the Friend Code you use when someone wants to add you on Steam.

  1. Open your SteamID3/Friend Code folder and find the folder for Enshrouded: 1203620.

  1. Open the 1203620 folder, and then open the remote folder.

  1. You will now see your save files. A world save consists of files with matching names (one file is the world, the _info file is its description and then the -index file for the autosaves which is also considered as the game's backup save). The save file will also include the character- save that we recommend taking note as well.
    • [some_hex_string] (e.g., 38d857c4)
    • [some_hex_string]_info (e.g., 38d857c4_info)
    • [some_hex_string]-index or [some_hex_string]-(number) (e.g., 38d857c4-7 or 38d857c4-index)
This clip summarizes steps 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Pro-Tip: Sort the files by Date Modified to easily find your most recent world. Keep these files ready by copying them on a New Folder.

Part 2: Prepare Your Server & Get The "Target Name"

Now, let's go to your server's File Manager to find the file name the server is hard-coded to load.

  1. In your PingPlayers control panel, go to the File Manager or connect via FTP. If you prefer using FTP, you can learn how to connect by following our FTP guide here

  1. Navigate to the server's save directory, which is: enshrouded server/savegame/

Note: If you don't see this folder, you must start your server at least once to generate it, then stop it again.

  1. Inside this folder, you will see the server's current default world files (e.g., 3ad85aea and 3ad85aea_info).

  1. This is the most important step: The server is configured to only look for this specific file name. Copy the main file name (in this example, 3ad85aea) and paste it into a Notepad file

    This is your Target Name.

  1. Once you have the Target Name, you must get the old files out of the way by deleting or renaming them.

We recommend renaming them as a backup for example: Rename 3ad85aea to 3ad85aea_backup and rename 3ad85aea_info to 3ad85aea_info_backup.

Part 3: Upload and Rename Your World

  1. Before you start uploading, rename or change the names of your local save to the Target Name you will upload. Here is an example:
In this clip, I already transferrred the local saves I will upload into a seperate folder to avoid confusion.

  1. While still in the enshrouded server/savedata/ folder in your File Manager, upload your local world files from Part 1 by dragging and dropping it to the Upload Bubble above the file path.

You can transfer the character saves as well to make sure that your local character progress is also on your server files.

In this clip, I already renamed the saves into the

  1. Lastly, go to Actions > Restart in your control panel.

And there you have it! When the server restarts, it will find the files with the name it expects (3ad85aea), but the content of those files will be your single-player world.
