How to Upload Your Local Save to Your Aska Server
Your tribe has grown, and your settlement’s saga deserves a permanent home. Moving your local Aska save to a dedicated server allows your community to play and build even when you aren't online.
However, because of how Aska links save files to specific IDs, simply dragging and dropping the folder isn't enough. To make your server recognize your world, you need to ensure the Save ID matches across three specific locations: the folder name, the metadata file, and the server's main configuration file.
This guide will walk you through the exact steps to sync everything up and get your history online.
⚠️ Important Note for Legacy Customers If you purchased your server before our new update (Early February 2026 or older), your server may still use the legacy file system involving
pp_savefile_id.txt.Please proceed with our Legacy Guide instead.
Important: Stop Your Server First
Before starting any modifications to your server files, you must shut down your server. Go to Actions > Shutdown in your control panel. Making changes while the server is running will corrupt your data and break the transfer.

Part 1: Find and Upload Your Save
Locate Local Save:
On your PC, open the Run command (
Win + R) and paste:%LocalAppData%low\Sand Sailor Studio\Aska\data
You will see folders starting with
savegame_. Find the one you want to upload.
Note the ID: The folder will be named something like
savegame_8b2e6_290126.
The Save ID is everything after the underscore (e.g.,
8b2e6_290126). Copy this ID to a notepad; you will need it later.
Upload to Server:
Go to the File Manager on your server panel or connect to SFTP. To learn more on how to connect, you can follow this guide: How to connect to SFTP

Navigate to this exact path:
/Server/SaveFolder/server/
Upload your entire save folder (e.g.,
savegame_8b2e6_290126) into this directory by dragging and dropping the folder on the bubble.

Part 2: Edit the Meta File
Now we need to ensure the save folder knows its own identity.
On the File Manager or SFTP, open the same path where you just uploaded your saved folder.
Find the file named
meta(it might not have an extension) then, click on the file to Edit.
Look for the
<String name="session">line. You need to paste your Save ID there.
Click the Save File button to apply the changes.

Part 3: Edit Server Properties
Finally, you must tell the server which save to load when it starts up.
Navigate back to the main server directory on your File Manager or SFTP (where you see the
SaveDataandserverfolders) and find and edit the file namedserver_properties.txt.
Look for the line that says
save id =.
Paste your Save ID next to it.

Part 4: Restart the Server
Go to the Actions tab in your server panel, then click Restart.

The server will now boot up, read the file server_properties.txt, find the matching save folder, and load your world exactly where you left off!
Troubleshooting
"I get a fresh save/new character when I join."
Solution: This usually means there is a typo in one of the IDs. The ID in your Folder Name, the Meta File, and the
server_properties.txtmust match exactly. Double-check for extra spaces or missing characters.
"My changes didn't save."
Solution: Did you click the Save File button after editing? Also, ensure the server was Offline/Stopped when you uploaded and edited the files. If the server were running, it might have overwritten your changes.
Conclusion
Your saga continues uninterrupted! You have successfully migrated your local Aska world to your dedicated server. By manually syncing the Save IDs in the config files, you've tricked the server into recognizing your existing history.
