How to Back Up and Migrate Your Echoes of Elysium Server Data

If you run an Echoes of Elysium server, it's important to back up your save files and configuration before making big changes or moving your server. You can manage server files either with the web-based File Manager or with an FTP/SFTP client. Both methods let you download, upload, rename, create, move, and delete files and folders.
Make sure the server is shut down before managing its files to avoid corrupting your save data.

File Manager vs FTP

Step-by-step backup and migration:

For this particular guide we'll use FTP/SFTP connection with FileZilla, as the game files are a little heavy.

  1. Shut down your server

Open your server's configuration panel at “My Servers” > “Manage Server” and click on the “Actions” option on the left panel.

  2. Open the File Manager or connect via FTP/SFTP

Locate your server files either under File Manager or using FTP connection.

  3. Locate your saved session

Navigate to your world folder in Server/world/ where you'll find a folder with a randomized numbers and letters name.

  4. Download your world

Once located, download it on your PC. If you're using our File Manager feature on the website, click on the 3 dots on the far right side to download it.

If you're using FTP/SFTP with FileZilla, simply double click or right-click on the folder to download it.

  5. Restart the server

After making a backup, you may boot your server back up and keep playing normally.

That's it, now you have a backup of your world's progression in your local PC.

How to restore data from a backup:

If you have a backup folder on your computer and need to restore it to your Echoes of Elysium server, follow the steps below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Keep the original randomized name on the backup folder, as the game uses a specific method which requires this name. In case your backup has a different custom name, copy the default created save folder's name from the server to rename your uploaded folder afterwards.

  1. Shut down your server

Open your server's configuration panel at “My Servers” > “Manage Server” and click on the “Actions” option on the left panel.

  2. Connect to your server files

Locate your server files either under File Manager or using FTP connection.

  3. Locate your saved session

Navigate to your world folder in Server/world/ where you'll find a folder with a randomized numbers and letters name.

  4. Delete the default saved folder

Now, we need to delete the default folder with the random name and upload the backup folder from your PC. Note that a deleted folder can't be restored, so make sure you're deleting the correct folder.
(If you don't want to delete the entire folder, you can simply rename it with a custom name, for example: backup_XXXXXXXX)

If you're using our File Manager feature on the website, click on the 3 dots on the far right side to delete it.
If you're using FTP/SFTP with FileZilla, simply right-click on the folder to delete it.

  5. Upload your backup folder into the server

Locate your saved folder in your PC and upload it into the server.
If you're using our File Manager feature on the website, you can drag and drop it directly there.
If you're using FTP/SFTP with FileZilla, drag the folder from your PC into the server (from left to right).

Alternatively you can upload the zipped folder instead, as it will take less time to transfer. Once uploaded, you may use the “Unzip" feature on our website to extract the folder.
Make sure you delete the zipped folder afterwards to avoid any confusions.

  6. Restart the server

After uploading your backup, you may boot your server back up to play on it.

That will be it, now your server is running your saved session to play with friend!
