How to Connect to Your Over the Top: WWI Server
Welcome to PingPlayers! You already have the important pieces of information: your server name (the name you chose when setting up the server) and the Server IP:Port.
Below are two easy methods to join your server: using the Server Browser or using a Direct IP (Custom IP) connection. We also include troubleshooting tips for both beginners and advanced users.
Method 1 - Server Browser
This is the easiest route for most players. Use the in-game server list to find and join your server by name.
- Launch Over the Top: WWI.
- Open the Multiplayer menu and click Server Browser.
Use the search box and type the server name you set during setup. You can type a partial name, since the browser usually matches parts of the name.

Use filters if needed, such as melee or ranged friendly fire, ping, voice chat or empty servers to narrow the results.

(If you do not see your server, set filters to the least restrictive options and refresh the list)
- When you see your server in the list, click Join.
If your server requires a password, type the password provided in your control panel or the one you configured.

(If you need admin access in-game, use the admin password instead. You'll gain admin level by it unless you set a whitelist option)
Method 2 — Direct Connect (Custom IP)
If the server browser does not show your server (troubleshooting, mostly), or you prefer to connect directly, use the Custom IP or Direct Connect option and enter your Server IP:Port.
- Launch Over the Top: WWI.
- Find and choose the Custom IP option on the bottom of the Multiplayer menu.
- Enter the connection details:
Server IP:Port — enter it exactly in this format:
123.45.67.89:27015(replace with your actual IP and port).
Example:
- Password — if the server has a player password, enter it when prompted.
- Admin Password — if you want to join with admin privileges and the game supports entering an admin password at connect, enter it here or use the in-game admin login after joining.

Click Join or Connect.

Direct Connect Tips
- Make sure you type the IP and port with a colon between them:
IP:Port. - You can copy it from the My Server IP:PORT box and paste it directly.
Troubleshooting — Server Not Visible or Can’t Connect
If you cannot find or connect to your server, try these checks. We start with the simplest:
Basic Checks
- Ensure the server is fully started: Check your PingPlayers control panel. The server should show as Running. If it is not, start or restart it and wait 30–60 seconds for it to become discoverable.
- Check filters in the server browser: Make sure region, ping limits, and other filters are not hiding the server. Set filters to the least restrictive options and refresh.
- Use direct connect as a fallback: If browser discovery fails, try the Custom IP method to confirm the game can reach the server.
- Confirm IP:Port is correct: Verify the exact IP and port shown in your control panel. A wrong port or even a small typo will prevent a connection.
- Check the server password or admin password: If your server is password-protected, make sure you have the correct password. If you want admin rights, use the admin password after joining or in the custom-connect dialog if supported.
- Game version and mods: Make sure your game client version matches the server version. If the server runs mods or custom maps, ensure they're compatible among each other.
- Server logs and console: Logs and Console are accesible from the control panel, check them for errors such as startup failures, port conflicts, or missing files. Restarting the server often resolves temporary issues.
