How to create a new world save to your Windrose server
Create a new Windrose server world: stop the server, back up saves, delete the Worlds folder, restart, and troubleshoot common issues.
This guide walks you through creating a brand new world (resetting your island). Follow the steps carefully — we'll also cover common problems and how to fix them.
Shutdown the server
Stop the server from your control panel so files aren't in use while you make changes.
Go to My Server > Manage Server > Actions (left panel).

Open File Manager or connect with an SFTP client
You can use the web File Manager in the PingPlayers panel or an SFTP program (FileZilla, WinSCP, etc.). Find here our SFTP guide to connect properly.

Navigate to the world save folder
Now we need to locate the specific save folder. Navigate to:
/home/container/R5/Saved/SaveProfiles/Default/RocksDB/version/Worlds/
(Version will be variable depending on your server's game version)
- Back up the folder (recommended). Click the three dots on the folder in the File Manager and download it, or download the folder via SFTP so you have a copy in case you want to restore the old world later.

Delete the Worlds folder or its contents
After you've backed it up, click the three dots on the folder and delete it. This removes the existing save so the server can create a fresh world.

Start the server
Boot the server from your control panel so a new save is created. Go to the Actions panel again and click Restart this time.

When the server starts it will generate a new save/world. Give it a minute and then check the same folder path to confirm new files appear.
Notes about Server Reset and Island ID
Resetting the world will create a new island/world ID. If you need to preserve island-specific data (for example linked services or external maps), be aware the ID will likely change after a reset. If you need help preserving or migrating specific data, contact support before proceeding.
Also, you will be able to switch between saves/worlds if neccesary. You may have multiple saves inside the server and switch between them whenever you prefer. To achieve this, you'll have to list the folder's name (same as World ID) under the server's Basic Settings panel.
Example:
Grab the folder's name or save ID from your saves folder and paste it under the “World Save ID” variable inside the Basic Settings.

Troubleshooting
Problem: Permission denied when trying to delete or download files.
Fix: Ensure the server is fully stopped. If permissions still fail in the web File Manager, try deleting via SFTP with your account credentials.
If that doesn't work, contact support and provide the error message/screenshots.Problem: A new save didn't appear after starting the server.
Fix: Wait a few minutes after starting the server — first-time generation can take extra time. Confirm the server started without errors (check server logs). If the server is crashing on start, capture the log output and contact support.
Problem: I want to restore my old world later.
Fix: Keep the backup you downloaded. To restore, stop the server, upload the backed-up folder back to the same path, add the folder name to the world save ID variable in Basic Settings and then start the server. Here is a guide for it. If you need help restoring, support can guide you through it.
