Important Note!
Before modifying any server files through FTP, please ensure you shut down your server first. This is crucial as it can help prevent data corruption and potential damage to your server files.
File Locations
In your Abyotic Factor server, the following files are pertinent:
- Player Save files: Located at
/Server/AbioticFactor/Saved/SaveGames/Server/Worlds/WORLDNAME/PlayerData
. Each player's save will have their SteamID in the filename.

- World Save files: Located at
/Server/AbioticFactor/Saved/SaveGames/Server/Worlds/WORLDNAME
, and includes files likeworldsave_facility.sav
.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Shut down your server. Always ensure the server is off before making changes.
- Connect to FTP. For help connecting to FTP, please refer to our detailed guide here.
- Locate your local Abiotic Factor save folder: Go to
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames\STEAMID\Worlds
. You can access this quickly by typing%AppData%
into the Windows Run function. Remember, theAppData
folder is hidden by default!

- Upload your world save folder: Locate the save folder on your server at
/Server/AbioticFactor/Saved/SaveGames/Server/Worlds
and prepare to upload your local world save folder.

- Upload your save folder: Upload your world save folder from your PC to the server using an FTP client like FileZilla or even through Windows Explorer.

- Change World Name: Go to the Basic Settings on the PingPlayers website, set the World Name to match the name of the uploaded folder, and save the changes.

- Restart the server: Finally, restart your server to load the uploaded save.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, consider the following:
- Did you shut down the server before making changes? Not doing so may corrupt files.
- Have you set the World Name correctly? Ensure it matches the uploaded folder exactly.
- Did you restart the server after uploading? Changes won't take effect until you do.
Backing Up Your Data
To back up your server data, download the save folder through FTP using the steps mentioned earlier.

Additionally, PingPlayers' Abiotic Factor servers take sporadic backups of your server saves, which can be utilized to roll back saves if needed.

With this guide, you should be able to successfully import your Abiotic Factor server saves and manage your game effectively.
