Day of Defeat: Source is a team-based World War II first-person shooter developed and published by Valve, released in September 2005 on the Source engine. A full remake of the original Half-Life mod, it pits the Axis against the Allies across war-torn European maps where teamwork, positioning, and class roles decide who holds the line.
Every match in Day of Defeat: Source runs on objective play. Teams fight over control points in territorial maps or race to plant and defend explosives in Detonation mode. Six classes (Rifleman, Assault, Support, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Rocket) each bring a distinct loadout, so a coordinated squad covering angles beats a team of lone wolves every time.
Two decades on, Day of Defeat: Source still has a dedicated competitive and pub scene built on community servers. Clans run scrims, pub admins curate custom map rotations, and surf and bhop servers keep the Source movement community alive. Run a private clan server or an open pub, and a dedicated Day of Defeat: Source server keeps your maps, plugins, and configs live around the clock.
