V Rising is a vampire survival game developed and published by Stunlock Studios. After launching into Early Access in May 2022, it reached full 1.0 release in May 2024 and has since pulled in millions of players who want to build a vampire empire from the ground up.
The core loop has you waking as a weakened vampire, hunting human settlements for blood, and tracking down V Blood bosses to unlock new powers, weapons, and structures. You raise a Castle Heart, defend it from rival players, hunt for resources after dark, and manage a blood pool that decays if you go too long without feeding. Combat is fast and skill-based, closer to an action RPG than a point-and-click survival game.
Most players run V Rising on a PvP or PvE server with a clan. Sessions tend to run long, with castle sieges, boss hunts, and raid windows shaping the rhythm of a wipe. On a private dedicated server, your clan sets the PvP rules and the world stays live around the clock, so anyone can log in and play without waiting for a host.
