About Subsistence
You start with little in a hostile open world, where wildlife and AI Hunters stand in your way. Subsistence is a solo or co-op PvE survival game from ColdGames, the studio of its sole developer. It has been in Early Access on Steam since 25 October 2016.
Changing seasons and a day-night cycle set the pace while you build a base and farm crops. Ore is mined and refined, and a central power system keeps your base items running. Hunters attack your base and keep bases of their own, which you can raid for loot. A Rogue Transceiver tracks down rogue camps and locked crates.
A Subsistence dedicated server shows in the in-game server list for everyone playing on Windows through Steam. When it runs Workshop mods, the join window asks each person to subscribe first, so everyone plays the same modded game.

In Subsistence, open the in-game server list, pick your server and enter the password in the join window. You can also press = to open the console and connect with the start command, using the IP and port from your dashboard.
Put each mod’s Workshop ID on the Mods line of UDKDedServerSettings.ini, kept as a Config Manager template. The server downloads the mods when it starts, and anyone joining is asked to subscribe. Achievements stay off in modded games.
Hunters Enabled in Basic Settings switches them off entirely, and Hunter Attacks sets their attacks to normal, revenge only or none. A restart loads the change.
Change Days Per Year in Basic Settings, then restart. ColdGames also offers a month setting in UDKDedServerSettings.ini that starts the server in the month you choose.
On a server with a password, join with the Admin Password from Basic Settings instead of the normal one. On an open server, press = and log in with the console start command and the Admin Password. As an admin, the Server Stats menu lets you kick and ban, or teleport to anyone on the server.
Stop the server, upload the SaveData folder from your co-op game with the File Manager or SFTP, then start it again.
ColdGames’ server guide allows up to 5 profiles, each with its own save. The ProfileId line in UDKDedServerSettings.ini picks which one the server loads.

ColdGames publishes no recommended group size for a dedicated server. Plans are sized by RAM, and the player limit is set with Change Max Players, which restarts the server.
